The WASSCE was scheduled to begin on March 30, 2020, and end on June 1, 2020, while the BECE will also start on June 15, 2020, and end on June 19, 2020.

However, the President exempted students preparing for the BECE and WASSCE, insisting such students are allowed to attend school in preparation for their final examination as part of measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Yesterday, a coalition made up of the Ghana National Association of Teachers, National Association of Graduate Teachers, Coalition of Concerned Teachers and the Teacher and Education Workers Union urged the government to suspend this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Reports reaching takoradionline.com is that this year's WASSCE has been suspended until further notice. in a statement released by the Registrar Headquarters of WASSCE, Accra, the WASSCE 2020 timetable and everything in connection has been suspended but will be reviewed when health situation in WAEC member countries have improved.
