The "Arts for All" project was launched as part of the governments plan to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa. The first phase of the program was started by the Ghana Association of Visual Arts(GAVA) in collaboration with the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly on the 5th of February.
Gyankroma Akuffo-Addo, the director of the creative arts council and the daughter of the president of ghana revealed that the paintings under beneath the Ako Adjei interchange is preordained to celebrate the ga tradition and culture as well as to celebrate the man whose name the interchange bears. She also stated that the paintings will be recreated across all flyovers in the city.
The director stressed that it is the responsibility of the public to ensure that the murals are protected as most parts of the various flyovers in Accra have been covered with a surfeit of posters and banners, she said she believes that the citizenry will not disfigure the beautiful murals.
