Mayor for the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis, Anthony K.K Sam, has argued that corruption perception of public office holders in the development of public infrastructure is largely influenced by the lack of information on these investments.

According to the Mayor, the assembly has made effort at publicizing information on infrastructure projects, to the greatest of its might, to deepen transparency on how public funds are spent.

The Inspector-General of Police, James Oppong Boanuh, has directed the Central Regional Police Command to set up a checkpoint at the Dompoase section of the Cape Coast-Takoradi highway.

The public Relations Officer of Ghana Water Company, Nana Yaw Barima Banie has debunked the assertion that activities of illegal miners in the region are the current cause of water rationing in Takoradi.

This follows the recent inadequate water supply to Ghana Water Company’s treatment plant at Inchaban and the Pra Basin which has influenced the Ghana water company to divide Takoradi into three Zones namely North Takoradi, South Takroadi , and Anaji West residential to facilitate equitable water distribution.

The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) task force in Takoradi impounded about 150 vehicles in 2019.

The Customs Commander for the Takoradi Collection, Assistant Commissioner Francis Tanlongo, who disclosed this here last Saturday, said the vehicles were impounded because the owners did not pay custom duties on the vehicles.

Prime suspect in the four kidnapped Takoradi girls’ case, Samuel Willis was today, January 22, 2020, physically attacked in court by Mr. Bentum, father of Priscilla Bentum – one of the missing Takoradi girls who have now been declared dead by the police. Proceedings of the case continued today at the Sekondi High court presided over by Justice Hannah Taylor.

The Member of Parliament for the Effia Constituency, Hon Joseph Cudjoe is distributing some three hundred and forty street lights to selected senior high schools in the Western Region to help lighten up their campuses. This, according to the Legislator, is to help reduce the crime rate in and around campuses of senior high schools by removing the conducive environments that help these crimes to be perpetuated.

The Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital is partnering the University of Cape Coast to set up a satellite medical campus at the premises of the hospital in Sekondi-Takoradi. The aim is to train medical practitioners at the hospital, as part of preparations to upgrade the facility to a teaching hospital status. This was revealed in an interview by the medical director, Dr. Jospeh Tambir.
